Stripe-powered checkout for an online store in North Macedonia

Stripe is global payment infrastructure, but availability for opening a standard account depends on where the business is registered. For a Macedonian merchant, the important question is therefore not simply whether a customer can enter a card. It is how the business is onboarded, who performs verification, how the payment becomes an order and how the wider commerce workflow operates.

Can a Macedonian company open a standard Stripe account directly?

North Macedonia is not currently listed on Stripe's official global availability page for standard accounts. A Macedonian entity should not use a foreign address or present itself as a business from another country to work around availability rules. Stripe availability can change, so the official list should always be checked when making a decision.

Creating a foreign company solely to obtain Stripe also creates banking, accounting, tax, registration and compliance obligations in another jurisdiction. That is a business-structure decision, not a payment-plugin shortcut.

How Kordiva connects Stripe-powered payments

For supported registered businesses, Kordiva connects the store and checkout to a Stripe Connect onboarding flow. The merchant enters the business, representative, activity and bank information requested during onboarding, while Kordiva connects that payment setup with the wider Kordiva commerce workflow.

Stripe performs its own verification and makes its own eligibility decision. Kordiva does not guarantee that a business will be approved by Stripe. Kordiva separately applies its own compliance and risk policy and may decline organizations, products or business models that are outside the platform's permitted profile.

Who can go through onboarding?

Kordiva is intended for registered legal entities and registered sole traders, not unregistered natural persons. Accurate business identity, ownership or representation information, bank details, products, customer-facing policies and other requested documentation must be provided.

Eligibility is not determined by Kordiva alone. Stripe applies its own requirements and risk controls, while Kordiva applies its platform policy. A merchant should therefore treat onboarding as a verification process, not as guaranteed payment activation.

Stripe is the payment layer; commerce continues after payment

A customer can reach checkout from a Kordiva Next.js store, a direct checkout link shared through social media, or an existing website connected through the API. Once payments are active, a successful card payment is tied to the relevant order instead of existing as an isolated transaction.

Kordiva commerce flow

Store / Checkout Link / API → Checkout → Stripe-powered Payment → Order → Operations → Payout / Refund / Dispute

The merchant remains responsible for accurate offers, fulfilment, support, returns and legally required documentation. Payout timing can also depend on the applicable Stripe setup, verification, settlement schedule, disputes, refunds, reserves and risk controls.

What to verify before activation

Review the current Kordiva plan and payment terms, supported currencies, payout process, refunds and dispute handling. Confirm the tax and fiscal setup with an accountant; payment technology does not remove the merchant's obligations to the Public Revenue Office or customers.

The practical goal is not simply to “get Stripe.” It is to build a verified order-to-payment process that can continue working when sales grow. Test the complete flow before sending paid traffic to the store.
